Original Announcement
here are 10 tips I wish someone gave me before I started:
π1. Build for a market you understand
- both of my products were built so solve my own pain
π 2. Donβt build "fun" ideas with no demand
- research if you have competitors who make money, if no then likely there is no market demand
π 3. Launch with one simple feature
- SupaBird launched with a single core feature
- Analyze competitors to understand what is the single main feature people pay for, build that and launch
π 4. Have a marketing plan before you build
- Do a research to create approximate sales plan for your product
- Your plan may fail but it is better to have it than not
π 5. Contact the right users
- Talk only to people who actually need your product
- Random feedback will push your product in the wrong direction
π 6. Befriend your users to get feedback (βΌοΈhighest priority)
- Connect with potential users on X, LinkedIn, IG, wherever, engage under their posts first for a few days. Then send a DM offering to try your product in exchange for feedback
π 7. Talk to everyone who leaves
- Users who cancel or stop using are your best feedback source
π 8. Run experiments (some take time)
- Try 1 new marketing experiment every week until you find what works and stick to it
- Some channels work fast, others (like SEO) need patience
π 9. Do things that donβt scale
- Talking to users 1-by-1 feels slow but gets first traction
- You can only automate after you understand what works
π 10. Raise goals & repeat the boring cycle
- Set small goals, hit them, then increase them
- New users β feedback β improve product
- Do this long enough and results compound
also give my product Supabird a try ;)
